California Here We Come!

A few days after our families departed the multiple celebrations (promotion, baptism and birthday), Sean and I packed up the girls and headed back to California for a week (San Fran, Sonoma and Silicon Valley). We were so excited to be going "home" to visit friends and attend the wedding of a college friend. And Erin was so excited to go on an airplane. She has flown with us several times before, but this was the first trip where she understood what an airplane was. Both of the girls did great on the flights - so well that Sean is already planning our next adventure!

Here are some of the pictures from our trip...boy wine country sure is different when you are there with kids! Wineries were replaced with Train Town and playgrounds.

Daddy boosted Erin up for a good look at the sea lions at Pier 39 in San Fran. She was so excited to see them, she nearly threw (well, she actually did throw) a tantrum when we left.
Train Town in Sonoma is this great little park with the longest scale train in the US. Erin is obsessed with trains lately, so she couldn't wait to go for a ride under the tunnels and over the bridges.
The carousel was also a big hit...
As was feeding the ducks...
But, over and above that, the brown bear was a hit. For those of you who don't know - Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle is probably the most popular book in our house, and Erin has nearly memorized the story. So getting to sit next to a "real" brown bear was quite exciting! When she wasn't riding trains and carousels, Erin was playing at the local playground in the square. (I promise Kate was with us...she just seemed to sleep through much of the trip.)

Who says I can't go down the big slide?!?

Our little daredevil.
